Route 66 Screw Stool

Just thought I would share this with you, this cute little stool was given to me by a friend I work with, it looked like this before:
Pretty boring really, and I wasn't sure what I could do with it to make it more interesting, but I had an inspiration whilst in a meeting at work - I work for a tour operator and a new brouchure was lying on the table in front of me, I would'nt say I wasn't concentrating on the meeting, but my mind was wandering! and as I looked down at the brochure I noticed on the front page was a photo which looked like this:
So my stool ended up looking like this!
I gave it a couple of coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Old White, then distressed it a little, my lovely daughter Laura painted on the Route 66 Graphic and...You're not so boring now little stool!

  1. It's so cute - I think we just threw out a stool like this, and it didn't even have a finish on it, it would have been so easy to paint !

  3. I love it! My youngest loves anything Route 66 related so I've been promising him I'd paint something or other for him in the near future. This was a great makeover, especially with such an industrial looking stool. I've nominated you for the Leibster Award. You can check out all the details on my blog. Congratulations!

  7. Since my summer car is a 1957 Chevy of course I had to look when I saw the Route 66 sign. Oh how made me smile, the Mother Road of America on a blog in England! Fun post!
